LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Lafayette Urban Ministry is continuing to support children and strengthen families during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The program released its latest statistics how it's lending a helping hand around the community.
LUM helped more than 1,4000 households from January through April.
It gave away $35,460 in direct cash assistance to those in need through the Good Samaritan Fund.
The executive director Wes Tillett said the volunteers at the ministry want to help pay it forward.
"They have been blessed," said Tillett. "They have been given something and there are other people who are less fortunate in the world and they want to try to build a brighter tomorrow for those people."
LUM received $35,000 from the Tippecanoe COVID-19 response Fund.
Fifteen thousand was dispersed in March and $20,000 in May.
