Jefferson High School's full statement is posted below:
"Joe Hernandez has resigned his position as Athletic Director at Jefferson HS, effective June 30th, in order to pursue other opportunities (June 30th is the last day of his contract for the 2020-21 school year).
Hernandez was named Athletic Director in October of 2019 to replace Doug Seagrave who was named to the same position in July of 2019 but was forced to resign that fall due to family reasons. Seagrave had replaced Peyton Stovall in July of 2019 after Stovall had accepted a position in the athletic department at Purdue University in May of the same year.
“We certainly appreciate all of Joe’s hard work and commitment during what has been a very unusual year and a half in the world of education and interscholastic athletics. We wish him nothing but the best as he pursues other opportunities.” --JHS Principal, Mark Preston
The search for Hernandez’s replacement will begin immediately."
