LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) -- Another candidate is entering the race for Tippecanoe Superior Court 7 Judge.
Democrat Jacque Chosnek announced her bid to run in front of friends and family Thursday night in downtown Lafayette.
Chosnek received her bachelor's degree in sociology from Purdue and a law degree from IU's law school in Indianapolis.
She has been Lafayette's Deputy City Attorney for 16 years and has been practicing law for nearly 20 years.
Chosnek said her background makes her a great fit for the position.
"A good judge also has to have the right temperament, character, professional responsibility, administrative ability and organizational ability," said Chosnek. "All of those things in addition to my 20 years of legal training are things I excel at."
Chosnek credits her legal and government interest to her father who was also a lawyer before he retired.
She is up against Republican candidate Dan Moore.
