LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLF)—Lafayette Police is preparing to hold its third annual Foot Pursuit. It's a walk run 5K that will be held at the Riehle Plaza on October 31st at 8:30AM. This year's event is also a fundraiser for the Hartford House which is a child advocacy center.
Due to COVID-19 the department is only accepting 230 registrations. That's down from 500 registrations last year.
There's also a virtual option people can register for. O'Shields said it's an event where people can safely gather for a good cause.
"It promotes fitness getting outside moving right, which again I am a big advocate of and then again that piece of a fundraiser and what better cause than to give money to kids in need," said O'Shields.
O'Shields said since the event take place on Halloween he is encouraging people to dress up in a costume. He said there will be an award for best costume.
