LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — A retired canine with the Lafayette Police Department has died Wednesday. Tico lived to be 16 years old and served on the force with his handler, Officer AJ Demello, from 2005 through 2013.
After his retirement, Tico was able to live out his final years with Officer Demello and his family. The K9 will be remembered for his ability to catch fugitives and win awards. In 2013 he and his handler won 6 awards at the American Working Dogs Olympics.
