LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Lafayette Police have released the name off the victim in Friday's homicide. They say Germanine Thomas, 38, died in the incident.
As we previously reported, LPD responded to a call for a female suffering from a medical issue early Friday morning at a home at 26th and Union Streets, only to find Thomas dead from an apparent gun shot wound.
LPD said the Tippecanoe County Coroner confirmed Thomas died from at least one gunshot wound. The preliminary autopsy found that the manner of death is homicide. Toxicology reports will take four to six weeks to come back.
Leon Chew, 37, is being held at the Tippecanoe County Jail without bond. He is LPD's person-of-interest in Thomas' death. He was arrested on an unrelated warrant, but is currently facing a preliminary charge of murder in this case.
The Tippecanoe County Prosecutor would have to file formal charges against Chew this upcoming week.
