LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Lafayette police are warning people to keep a closer eye on their valuables, following three reports of stolen wallets.

Police tell us all three incidents happened within an hour of each other last Friday, and they believe they are linked. Police released the following photos of two suspects, along with a vehicle they were seen driving.

In each instance, police said the victim had their purse sitting open in a shopping cart or hanging on the back of a chair at a restaurant. The thieves took the wallets, then charged thousands of dollars to the cards.

Sergeant Matt Gard said vigilance is key.

These thieves, they know that they can go out and they can rack up thousands of dollars in charges before the victims know that their purse is missing or that their wallet is missing.

Police said when you're out shopping or dining, always keep your purse and wallet in sight.

If you have any information, you're asked to call LPD Lieutenant Jim Taul at 765-807-1200 or the anonymous We-Tip hotline at 800-78-CRIME.
