LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — The Lafayette Police Department is investigating a possible homicide in Lafayette.
According to LPD, Police responded to a call on Union Street around 1:20 a.m. of a female suffering a medical issue. Officers arrived and found a deceased female with an apparent gunshot wound.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
Around 8 a.m. officers located a person interest 37-year-old Leon Chew in the 200 block of Perrin Avenue. That person was arrested on an unrelated warrant and is currently being held at the Tippecanoe County Jail.
LPD said the incident does not appear to be a random act of violence and the Lafayette Police do not believe the general public is in any type of danger.
