LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Lafayette fire inspectors say an early morning house fire Wednesday was intentionally set.
About 4 a.m., firefighters were called to the 1400 block of Grove Street. That's located about a block south of the Lafayette Police Training Center off South Street.

LFD Inspector Gary Bennett said the fire had multiple points of origin and it's likely that an accelerant was used. A mother and son who were in the home made it out safely.
There were seven pets in the home. Two dogs and one cat died in the fire.
Bennett said no arrests have been made yet, but they have a person of interest. He was unable to say what the alleged motive may have been.
Firefighters have wrapped up their investigation and the area is back open. No injuries were reported.
