LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Prosecutors presented several pieces of disturbing evidence Wednesday as the murder trial continued against 18-year-old Jaelynn Billups, who is accused of shooting and killing a pizza delivery driver during a botched robbery.

Jurors reviewed gory crime scene photos, chaotic police body camera video and frantic 911 calls, all dating back to an August shooting last year near North 16th and Hart streets.

That's where Billups is accused of plotting to rob a Dominos delivery driver with her boyfriend, 19-year-old Alberto Vanmeter. Prosecutors say Billups shot and killed the driver, 37-year-old Joshua Ungersma, after he shot and killed Vanmeter in apparent self-defense.

Crime scene photos show the crumpled bodies of Ungersma and Vanmeter lying on the ground in puddles of blood. Bodycam video shows Billups lying on top of Vanmeter, crying, screaming and initially telling police "They shot each other."

Prosecutors also played a 911 call in which a dispatcher attempts to calm a hysterical Billups, who, along with family members in the courtroom, were visibly shaken after the recording was played.

The phone number from the 911 call was the same one used to place the fatal order at Dominos, according to digital forensics experts questioned during the trial.

As News 18 previously reported, Billups' family members were barred from the first day of the trial after they were accused of recording jurors and prosecutors on their phones, as well as making racial comments and potentially threatening comments to a deputy prosecutor, according to an order issued by Judge Thomas Busch.

Busch ruled the family members were attempting to intimidate jurors and prosecutors. They were removed from the courthouse and their phones were seized for examination.

Prosecutors are expected to call more witnesses and present more evidence Thursday as part of the third day of the trial.
