Temperatures have already reached 87-95 for highs today as of 1:45 p.m. with heat indices as high as 106. Lows this morning were 66-72 over the viewing area with some patchy fog & widespread thick haze.
I have 94 (heat index 100) with continued sunshine, but the cumulonimbus are building with thunder southeast & south of me. You can see & feel the updraft blowing toward the developing storms with NW wind at 7 mph in what has otherwise been a day of calm to nearly calm winds.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Scattered pulse storms will continue to develop this afternoon. There is the risk of isolated microbursts (small core of damaging wind that comes out of a storm & hits the ground & fans out) as the storms pulse then collapse.
We saw tree damage in Greenbush Cemetery yesterday from microburst-type gust in Lafayette & horse shelters were blown over & thrown about southeast of Veedersburg yesterday as well.
Torrential rainfall will occur with +1" rain falling in a brief period of time resulting in street & parking lot flooding.
These storms go up very quickly, so you can go from sun to lightning in an instant. They also collapse quickly. You can still have some lightning around even as the sun comes out & you are tempted to go outside.
Patchy fog is possible tonight, mainly in areas that receive rainfall today. Lows of 68-73 are likely.
A few isolated to spotty storms are likely Wednesday & Thursday with highs in the 90s & heat indices near 100 to 107 after lows near 70 to the mid 70s.
MCS (complex of storms) is possible Friday. The timing is unclear, however.
There are some signs that it will pass in the morning & the afternoon will be dry with a northwest breeze & highs 88-93 with a bit less humid conditions.
If it passes more in the afternoon-evening, the risk of some severe wind gusts will go up & it will be very oppressive with heat indices 101-108 just prior to its passage.
We will monitor.
A few storms are possible Saturday with 87-92 with tolerable humidity, followed by dry weather Sunday-Thursday.
After 86-91 Sunday & Monday, 90s return with higher humidity Tuesday-Thursday.
Some intense heat is possible mid to late next week with temperatures well into the 90s with heat indices +100.
Storms are possible at the end of next week to early in the next weekend as a cold front passes.
