We have had a very warm to hot, humid stretch. It hasn't been extreme, but bad enough! The extreme heat has been west & southwest of the area with deadly heat indices +120 in the Lower Mississippi Valley & highs +100 to the Dakotas & Iowa.
Derecho will rake areas Minnesota to Virginia tonight-tomorrow.
It will side-swipe northeastern counties after 4:30 p.m. with wind risk.
Its tail end will then back-build to bring wind risk to rest of area through morning to afternoon.
Storms will then exit by late afternoon-early evening.
With wind threat, some locally-heavy rainfall is possible.
Friday looks dry with 79-84 & less humid conditions, followed by more humid weather & low to mid 80s Saturday with storms south & southwest of our area. A couple to few showers & storms may sneak into northern counties after 7 p.m. Saturday night & after 11 p.m. for Greater Lafayette with 25-30% coverage.
A few spotty showers & storms are possible Sunday with upper 70s to lower 80s.
Monday-Friday looks nice with upper 70s to lower 80s mostly with low humidity & lows in the 50s. We will turn warmer at the end of next week with 83-88 by Friday, with slight uptick in humidity (but it still won't be bad). With sunshine daily & temperatures warm, but not out of control (with low humidity), it will be one of the best weeks of the summer so far.
