Heat wave & storm risk, then a bit cooler.

A massive area is covered by Excessive Heat Watches & Warnings & Heat Advisories; the likes not seen since 2012.

There have been a few isolated storms around this morning-midday.  Recently, they have been skimming by our north on the southern edge of a larger area of showers & storms.  As of 1:45 p.m. storm is moving into Newton County.

Temperatures vary from a rain-cooled 74 at Morocco to 93 at Delphi.  Heat indices vary from 74-105, but much of the area is 97-103.

Storm in Newton County may hang on for a bit longer in the far north (with isolated storm potential Benton, White, Pulaski, Cass, Fulton lasting for a couple/few more hours), then collapse as strong capping & the hot upper ridge with sinking, heating air pushes northward.

With this strong capping, it is unlikely that the remnant outflow boundary from these storms will be able to pop anything as it moves through as a line of cumulus clouds this later this afternoon.

We are completely capped & dry after that & right through tonight & tomorrow with lows in the mid to upper 70s & highs 94-100.  Heat indices will run 104-114.

There will be a southwest wind at 15-25 mph, but it will feel like a furnace blower.

"Ring of Fire" storm complexes or "Ridge Riders (MCSs & perhaps a derecho mixed in) will track north & northeast of our area on the edge of the intense heat through Saturday.

We look mostly sunny & strongly capped with highs 95-100 Saturday & heat indices 105-114. There will be a southwest wind at 15-25 mph, but it will still feel like a furnace blower.

Lows Friday & Saturday nights will run 75-80.  Heat indices at night will run 78-86 during the coolest hours of the late night-early morning.

Hot ridge will flatten & we should get a round of storms Sunday.  Some severe weather is possible.  Looks SLIGHT RISK-worthy at the moment.

Bit cooler & less humid weather will arrive Monday-Wednesday with highs 83-89 & lows 58-65.  Skies will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy.

Thursday looks humid with highs 88-92 with heat indices 94-97.

A highly-broken line of storms with isolated severe risk is possible along a cold front.

This cold front may bring highs of only 78-83 next Friday with lows 53-57.

The weekend of July 27-28 look good presently with sunshine & highs 80-85 with lows 55-60.
