WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Harrison basketball star Jordan Walters committed to play at one of the nation's best Division 2 programs late last month in Lincoln Memorial University.
The Railsplitters have won 30 or more contests in five out of the last six seasons. LMU was a one-seed in the NCAA Tournament before it was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Walters led Mark Rinehart's Harrison team to an appearance in the sectional championship game, including a 19-7 overall record. Walters said Lincoln Memorial's past success, and the school's facilities stood out during the recruiting process.
"I thought that they could best help me reach my potential basketball wise, they have the best facilities out of any place I visited, they went 32-1 this year and went on a 32 game winning streak," said Walters.
"They were on pace to maybe be national champions. What stood out with Lincoln Memorial was how they could develop me as a player. They have a whole bunch of assistant coaches and training staff, and a weight program which is kind of rare at a division 2 program and I really just felt like I could excel there as a player."
