LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — A new construction project is taking over Lafayette Jeff High School.
The Lafayette School Corporation said it will be divided into four phases.
Construction is behind the high school near the football stadium.
It's all part of the $98 million worth of projects going on in Lafayette schools.
This works costs about 3.2 million.
It includes a new HVAC unit, refreshing the interior and beautifying the exterior.
Les Huddle said it has been a long time coming.
"The purpose is the need is there," said Huddle. "It's out dated and it's 50 years old. So you have 50-year-old classrooms and 50-year- old heating and cooling."
The whole project is looking at a August of 2020 completion.
