Relatively mild, tranquil, rather gray regime dominates the next 7 days.

A few episodes of spits of snow to a few snow showers are possible here & there now to Sunday.  Any accumulation that can occur would amount to little dusting.  Some increasing potential of a bit of sun will be here Monday & Tuesday, but fingers are crossed for holes in the low clouds between now & then.

Scattered showers are possible late Wednesday & again Thursday.  However, snow is likely Thursday night-Friday with some lingering snow showers & flurries at times next weekend.

Minor accumulation is likely.

Colder weather arrives at the end of next week to next weekend, but the brunt of the cold comes in & is with us January 19-22.

Overnight lows a bit below to right at 0 are likely with some snow pack laid down.

There will also be considerable wind, leading to some blowing & drifting snow & below to well-below 0 wind chills.

If that has you down there is better news............(see below 7-day):

We may put up with colder, snowier to the last days of January, but there are continued strong signs of significant surge of spring-like warmth with rain & some t'storms as we leave January & move right into early February.  Near/record warmth is possible, along with heavy rainfall & potential of some severe weather as far north as parts of Indiana & even the viewing area.

Rivers will be on the rise to perhaps flood stage & this thaw will be quite quick & sudden.

However, bad thing is that a cold surge may follow & it may lay the ground work for an icing event in February.

After that, it appears that spring surges of warmth are possible late February with above normal rainfall & risk of some t'storms.

February-April still looks wetter & warmer than normal.

Some data suggests the dryness will begin in mid-May & setting the stage for the summer drought & heat.  There are signs of a considerable, consistent "Ring of Fire" pattern with potential of a derecho here in the summer.

There is also a trend, outside of tropical systems, that the dryness & overall drought will continue right through next October once it ramps up this summer.
