Widespread 0.10-0.25" ice amounts have occurred over the area with the trees creaking & cracking with the wind & ice weight. I do have three reports of limbs coming down from Newton, White & Carroll counties.
I have 0.11" ice accumulation (with trace of sleet at the onset) & a total of 0.52" liquid as of 12:30 p.m. here at our WLFI ob site. There are 3" icicles on some objects. Temperatures just climbed to 33 at this site however.
I recieved a couple reports of thunder in the heaviest rainfall.
The heaviest freezing rain is now shifting north of 18 & the freezing line is approaching 18.
With time the entire area will go to plain rain with the heaviest driving rain pushing out, but rainy & drizzly weather remaining.
This evening, a period of icy mix to all snow will occur along & north of a Fowler to Rochester line with minor accumulations that may lead to some slick areas on roadways.
A period of fog (some of it dense with visibility to 0.25 mile) is likely this evening for a few hours time.
After highs topping out at 35-44 northwest to southeast over the area, temperature will fall back to 29-34 again this evening.
It is mostly 1" or less of snow along & northwest of that Fowler to Rochester line, but 1-2" may occur in northern Newton & Jasper counties. Lows of 27-31 is are likely tonight.
A few light rain & rain/snow snow showers & drizzle are possible Saturday with highs 34-37.
Snow is likely late Saturday night-Sunday morning with temperatures 29-32.
1" or less of snow is possible over our northwestern counties while 1-3" is possible along & southeast of a Rochester to Monticello to Pine Village to Covington line.
If the upper low tracks just a bit more to the west & northwest, then totals may be a bit higher.
Highs by afternoon should reach 32-38.
