LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Graduation season is upon us, as graduates move their tassles, accept their diplomas, and start their journey into the world.

Lafayette Ivy Tech students walked across the stage to start their journey after higher education on Sunday. Graduates gathered outside of Purdue's Elliot Hall of Music ready to walk in for their ceremony.

The campus had 800 students qualify for degrees. Communications Director Tom McCool said they had about 300 graduates walk today, and he said they handed out 1,200 degrees or certificates to the 2019 graduates.

An honorary degree was given to Jerry Hendress, who is a member of the school's board who is retiring. McCool said Hendress was a big supporter of Ivy Tech's agriculture program.

Congratulations to all Ivy Tech students who graduated!
