LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI)-Ivy Tech Community College will be opening up campus this fall but will give students the option to take classes virtually. Starting in August classes will be offered in-person, online, and they will offer a hybrid option.
Students will be able to make the decision week to week if they feel safe attending class in person. This gives them the flexibility to still receive credit for their class if they or a loved one is diagnosed with COVID-19. The community college will also issue masks to all students and employees.
"We will not require that those be worn but we will strongly recommend that people wear them,” said Tom McCool the executive director of communications at IVY Tech Community College. “We also are going to try and do as much social distancing as possible by limiting the number of students who will be in a classroom or lab."
Ivy Tech will start classes on Monday, August 24th. The college says they will share more details with students and staff leading up to the campus re-opening.
