FRANKFORT, Ind. (WLFI) -- City leaders are ready to find a replacement for Mayor Chris McBarnes.
McBarnes said he hopes the person elected is ready to take office by the time he moves.
A 19-person Republican chair committee will vote on the next mayor.
He or she will just need to submit paperwork for the election.
Jim Moyer is the Republican Party Chairman for Clinton County.
He said a lot of clerical work has to get done before this process can start.
Moyer said it would be great if the next mayor can continue what McBarnes has built in Frankfort.
"He has us moving on the right track," said Moyer. "Up until he took office, there was very little progress made. Since he has taken office it has been enormous."
If you are interested in running for the mayor of Frankfort, remember you have to file as a Republican.
