LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Indiana Task Force One members are back home from helping with the hurricane relief in Florida. The team was in Panama City specifically focusing on urban search and rescue.
They went door to door, searching homes and businesses, making sure anyone who stayed behind was ok.
"We do this day in and day out, in our communities that we serve here, so no different for us to go there, to lend a hand to the local officials there, so police departments, firefighters all that, they've also lost their homes, they were strapped in what they can do. So they were appreciative for us to come down and be able to assist them," said Taskforce Leader Gerald George.
While Task Force One is coming home, other people from Indiana on their way to Florida. Major David Luft with the Salvation Army left Thursday to help provide emotional and Spiritual Care.
