WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A group of students at IU Medicine West Lafayette are volunteering to administer the COVID-19 vaccine at IU health Arnett.
The second-year medical students started Saturday, December 19 - one day after their final exams.

"Being in the classroom, first and second year students, we don't get a chance to really say thank you as much as we would like to," Catherine Burns, second year student and Vice President of Personnel for the student outreach clinic.
The students had already received training when they volunteered to administer the flu shot. When the opportunity to help with COVID-19 arrived, they were quick to take action.
"We thought we could really use this new found skill and put it to use," Burns said.
Twenty five students have volunteered to administer the vaccine. They plan to continue through the weekend and into January.
