ISDH: State breaks 5,000-death mark, Tippecanoe Co breaks 8,000-case mark

Tippecanoe County has 215 new cases on Sunday. There are no new deaths in the WLFI viewing area.

INDIANAPOLIS (WLFI) — The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) announced Sunday, November 22, that 6,225 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

According to ISDH, 295,357 people in Indiana have been diagnosed with the coronavirus. A total of 5,040 people have died from the virus, an increase of 48. There are no new deaths in the WLFI viewing area.

In the WLFI viewing area, new cases were reported in Benton (8), Carroll (16), Cass (23), Clinton (29), Fountain (10), Fulton (12), Howard (98), Jasper (11), Miami (32), Montgomery (22), Newton (7), Pulaski (5), Tippecanoe (215), Warren (3), and White (28).

No new counties in the WLFI area have moved into the red zone. Currently, White, Newton and Warren Counties are red. All other counties are orange. Click here to read more about what restrictions are in place based on their designated color zones.

• Miami – 1,504 (14 deaths)
• Montgomery – 1,279 (26 deaths)
• Newton – 534 (12 deaths)
• Pulaski- 364 (10 deaths)
• Tippecanoe – 8,076 (27 deaths)
• Warren – 227 (1 death)
• White – 1,152 (21 deaths)

Purdue University’s COVID Dashboard reported 77,260 total tests given since August 1. There have been 2,922 total diagnosed cases. 484 student cases and 73 employee cases are considered active. 

A note on the page says the university will not update the dashboard when it is closed, specifically during the Thanksgiving holiday from November 25 through the 27th, and the winter recess from December 21st through January 1st.
