INDIANAPOLIS (WLFI) — The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) announced Friday, January 8, that 6,199 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19.
According to ISDH, 552,594 people in Indiana have been diagnosed with the coronavirus. A total of 8,521 people have died from the virus, an increase of 69. New deaths were reported in the following local counties:
- Benton - 1
- Clinton - 1
- Fulton - 1
- Miami - 1
- Newton - 1
- Tippecanoe - 4
In the WLFI viewing area, new cases were reported in Benton (14), Carroll (10), Cass (40), Clinton (22), Fountain (36), Fulton (14), Howard (104), Jasper (27), Miami (34), Montgomery (61), Newton (8), Pulaski (11), Tippecanoe (250), Warren (13), and White (24).
Currently, Benton, Carroll, Fountain, Jasper, Miami, Montgomery, Pulaski, Warren, and White Counties are in the red. All other counties in the WLFI viewing area are orange. Click here to read more about what restrictions are in place based on their designated color zones.

Purdue University’s COVID Dashboard reports 84 active cases with 37 being students and 47 being employees. It has reported 4,003 total cases since it started reporting on August 1. 93,582 total tests have been given on campus.
According to the Indiana COVID-19 Vaccination Dashboard, 128,026 people have received the first dose of the vaccine. 585 have received the second dose and are fully vaccinated.
