INDIANAPOLIS (WLFI) — The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) announced Saturday, January 16 that 3,973 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

According to ISDH, 587,049 people in Indiana have been diagnosed with the coronavirus. A total of 8,913 people have died from the virus, an increase of 41. New deaths were reported in the following local counties:
Cass - 1 (total 60)
Tippecanoe - 3 (total 121)
In the WLFI viewing area, new cases were reported in Benton (6), Carroll (8), Cass (11), Clinton (19), Fountain (25), Fulton (9), Howard (47), Jasper (25), Miami (14), Montgomery (23), Newton (6), Pulaski (4), Tippecanoe (146), Warren (4), and White (17).

Purdue University’s COVID Dashboard reports 148 active cases with 105 being students and 43 being employees. It has reported 4,134 total cases since it started reporting on August 1. 104,566 total tests have been given on campus.
According to the Indiana COVID-19 Vaccination Dashboard, 282,943 people have received the first dose of the vaccine. 55,962 have received the second dose and are fully vaccinated.
