LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI)—Hunger Hike is a fundraiser that strives to end food insecurity in the community.
It's a partnership between Lafayette Urban Ministries, Food Finders Food Bank and St. Thomas Aquinas Haiti Mission. The fundraiser this year raised over$96,000. That money goes back into the community.
Executive Director for Lafayette Urban Ministry, Joe Micon, said this is paying it forward to those in need.
"It's just unacceptable for there to be children and families and individuals who don't have enough to eat," said Micon. "And solving hunger is quite easy. You just feed the children. In order to do that we need some funds and Hunger Hike accomplishes that."
Over the past ten years Hunger Hike has raised just shy of one million dollars.
