LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Hospitality businesses are preparing for the holiday season.
December and January are not kind to lodging businesses. While travel is high for the holidays, leisure travel is not. This year, which has been difficult on nearly every industry, they're getting creative in their ways to draw in new guests.
Small businesses like The Whittaker Inn are now offering more than just lodging and food. They are creating Christmas ornaments, cookies, and selling gift cards.
Meanwhile at Purdue, the Union Club Hotel is emphasizing its dedication to customer service and cleanliness.
Both businesses say they want to provide guests a stay-cation. The Whittaker offers guests a "passport to the world" with it's themed rooms, and the Union Club Hotel offers boutiques room for pools of friends.
