LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — The Honor Flight of Greater Lafayette Board of Directors announced Monday that next scheduled flight has been postponed to April/ May of 2022. According to a released statement, while the National Honor Flight Network has recently decided to resume flights with restrictions beginning in August 2021, the local hub has decided that in order to provide a truly memorable day for our Veterans, Guardians, and Crew we will be best able to do this by waiting.
The statement said the Veterans that had spots will not lose them and should look forward to further information as it becomes available.
“Our first priority is the safety of our Veterans, our guardians, and our crew,” says Kevin Bol, the President of Honor Flight of Greater Lafayette. “We are also committed to maximize the experience and want to make sure that we have access to all memorials with minimal restrictions. Every effort is being made by our 100% volunteer organization to reschedule the flight to be able to fly our Veterans in 2022. We appreciate everyone’s continued support and patience as we work through these challenging times and look forward to seeing everyone again at upcoming events and flights in the future. Our mission will not be complete until every Veteran has been afforded the opportunity to visit their memorials.”
