LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Police are investing a weekend break in, where the culprit allegedly approached a girl in her bed. The incident occurred near the intersection of 18th Street and Veterans Memorial Parkway.

Police are saying a man entered a south- side Lafayette home Saturday night through an open window.

Investigators claim he pulled the sheets off a girl's bed promising everything will be okay. The daughter ran into her mother's bedroom, who contacted the police. By the time law enforcement arrived, the intruder fled.

Police have found footprints leading to several other residences in the block. Handprints were also found on the open window.
