INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb will mark the beginning of his second term on Monday with a low-key formal oath-taking ceremony.
The 52-year-old Republican governor decided soon after his landslide reelection victory in November that because of coronavirus precautions he would forgo a traditional public ceremony such as he had four years ago at the state fairgrounds coliseum.
Holcomb has said he wants to focus during the coming months on distributing the coronavirus vaccines and helping the state’s economy recover with steps such as boosting rural internet service and grants to assist businesses wanting to modernize.
The oath ceremony scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday will be shown on the governor’s office Facebook page.
Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch and new state Attorney General Todd Rokita, both Republicans, also begin four-year terms Monday.
