TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI)— The FIRST Robotics World Championship is underway in Detroit, and several teams from Greater Lafayette are being represented.
Faith Christian School, Harrison Boiler and West Lafayette Jr./Sr. High School have teams there ready to compete. Faith Christian School was runner up to win an 'inspire' award during state.
The award is given to teams who act with gracious professionalism and work as a unit.
Robotics Coach for Faith Christian Bill Bolander said creating a great robot isn't the only win for this team.
"Our team made a really good robot, but our kids were even better than that," said Bolander. "So we were honored to be runner up to the 'inspire' award, which is the highest award that FIRST gives."
The FIRST World Championship in Detroit is held on a multi-point campus.
Finals will be this Satruday at Ford Field for those that qualify.
