GREATER LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) -- The Greater Lafayette Commerce is looking to highlight local young working professionals this summer. The organization will be hosting its "Top 10 Under 40" award ceremony on August 27, 2021.
The nomination pool is open right now. If you're a peer, boss, employee, or friend of someone under age 40 making great strides in the community, that's someone you should consider nominating. And you can also nominate yourself.
This award is looking to highlight individuals actively working to improve the quality of life in Greater Lafayette. GLC will award 10 winners at this year's ceremony. The nominee voting process is open now until Monday, July 26th. After a person is nominated, they will receive an email where they fill out a form explaining how they're working to improve the community.
GLC's Quality of Life Coordinator, Rebecca Jones said it's important to uplift young professionals when you can.
"Our young professionals are doing amazing work and we really want to acknowledge that we want to let them know that their community thanks them and appreciates them and put them on a pedestal for other young professionals to look up to," said Jones.
She said honoring young professionals brings a benefit the entire community will notice.
"Awards like these are necessary to encourage young professionals not only to choose Greater Lafayette as their community to live and work in but also to know that their accomplishments are not for not, they are being recognized," said Jones.
The judges are former Top 10 Under 40 winners, as well as some business owners and other local leaders.
