LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Forty-four kids from different community outreach programs enjoyed Tuesday night shopping for whatever toys they wanted with Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski.
Shop with a Mayor is in its 15th year of tradition. Each kid was given $100 to spend.
Many kids spent their money by purchasing video games, stuffed animals and various toys. Mayor Roswarski said this day always puts a smile on his face.
"Some of them are buying gifts for other family members when they aren't sure what they will get for Christmas, or they are buying for other family members too," said Mayor Roswarski. "Seeing the looks on their faces, their smiles and their hugs, it's priceless. It's one of the highlights of the year for me."
The most popular toys? Stuffed animals, action figures and Nerf guns.
