WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI)—Purdue University and West Lafayette Police geared up this weekend for the final home Purdue Football game of 2017. Despite the heavy game crowds, WLPD recorded an average number of service calls and arrests.

From Friday to Sunday, 145 calls were made to the police station. Police made 59 traffic stops and 5 arrests this weekend. The numbers were at the annual average for the Purdue/IU game. However, Sgt. Stason Wiete said game day didn't go completely as planned.

"It has been the construction," he explained. "They were still doing some during the game down on State and River, and the construction company we actually went down there and asked them to hault doing what they were doing so we could get the game traffic out."

Police responded to four calls for public intoxication. There were no drug related calls or arrests made this weekend.
