CHALMERS, Ind. (WLFI) — Frontier Volleyball raised over $5,300 for staff member Peter Johnson's cancer treatment during their 3-1 (25-18, 25-14, 22-25, 27-17) victory over Twin Lakeson Wednesday night.

Johnson has been through eight rounds of chemotherapy beginning last summer, as well as other treatments. He helped the Falcons with conditioning and provided mentorship to student-athletes during his two years with Frontier.

Players raised money through "dollars per kill" pledges. The team finished with 39 kills on the night at $57 each, a total sum of $2,223. The remaining $3,000+ came from t-shirt sales and donation buckets at the venue.

The Falcons also honored Johnson with a video that was shown before the varsity match. It can be found here.

Emma Segal finished with 18 kills, 10 digs and three aces. Camy Clapper added 11 kills, 10 digs, and six aces (four consecutive aces in the first set).

Clapper said that tonight was about far more than just volleyball.

"We just knew it was bigger than ourselves," said Clapper. "We needed to play for everyone who's had cancer."

Frontier improves to (15-9). The Falcons will play Rensselaer Central on Thursday evening at 6pm.
