FRANKFORT, Ind. (WLFI) - The city of Frankfort is searching for a new parks department superintendent.
The current superintendent, Travis Sheets, recently announced he will be stepping down later this year to open up a mission care retreat center in Arizona. Sheets has worked with the city of Frankfort for the past two years and previously was the superintendent in the 1990s.
Sheets said he has enjoyed collaborating with the city of Frankfort.
"I love the administration that I work with, Mayor McBarnes has been nothing but great to me and our department," said Sheets. "The people that I work with and surround myself with are great and I'm going to miss them a lot,"
Sheets says before he steps down he will be working alongside city officials in finishing construction on Prairie Creek Park and the design of TPA's Aquatic Center.
He will officially step down from his position at the end of the year.
The city said they are looking for someone with knowledge in park planning, programming, and infrastructure projects.
"You need to be efficient in several different areas, from human resources to the management side of things to zoology, Horticulture it sort of encompasses all professions," said Sheets.
