GREATER LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Franciscan Health is expanding its virtual care thanks to a recent award from the Franciscan Health Foundation.
Franciscan has seen an increase in telehealth services due to COVID-19 with more than 100,000 telemedicine visits. Due to the increase, The Federal Communications Commission COVID-19 Telehealth Program is awarding Franciscan Alliance $929,834
The money will help to purchase laptops, tablets, webcams and headsets used for virtual care, along with remote monitoring devices for home healthcare patients.
The funds are part of the CARES Act that was passed by congress.
Beth Keultjes, Administrative Director of Franciscan Home Care for Central and Western Indiana, said in a statement that while Franciscan has been doing remote patient monitoring through Home Care since 2005, the FCC award "is going to allow us to expand our services to do even more for these critical care patients."
