LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Franciscan Health East is celebrating ten years of operation in Lafayette. Staff and incoming patients were invited for cookies and hot chocolate Tuesday.
The hospital was in need of a replacement facility a decade ago. It had a choice to either renovate an older location or build a new one.
Leaders built the current location on the east side of Lafayette on Creasy Lane. CEO Terry Wilson says the last ten years have been full of growth.
"It's hard to believe it's been ten years, we've grown," said Wilson. "We've added an entirely new building onto this campus, I think over a hundred thousand square feet. There's been a lot of growth, been a lot of success, and touched a lot of lives in ten years."
Brad Day, a hospital security guard, says milestones like these have everyone in a reflective mood.
"It makes you look back on what has happened in the history of the organization," said Day. "It's another stepping stone to the next steps, the next opportunities, to grow in health care and be that leader."
Day says care for patients is continuing to grow alongside visitor experience.
