TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - The Republican primary for Tippecanoe County Council at large is back on. Two candidates are taking on two incumbents and former Sheriff Barry Richard.
Newcomer Dave Williams was a former councilman for District 1 who was unseated by Democrat Ilana Stonebraker in 2018. Shane Weist also filed Monday on the Republican ticket.
As News 18 has reported, three Republicans held the council's at large seats when Richard announced his candidacy. That would have forced a primary until council president Bryan Metzger suddenly passed away last week.
Now, Weist, Williams, Richard, and incumbents Kevin Underwood and John Basham are all in the primary race. There are also five Democrats running.
