REMINGTON, Ind. (WLFI) — A man was killed Tuesday night in a crash on Interstate 65 in Jasper County. Police said heavy fog played a role.
About 9:30 p.m., police were called to southbound I-65 at the 201 mile marker. That's at the U.S. 24/U.S. 231 exit in Remington.
Police said Verlon Curran, 69 of Monticello, was trying to exit the interstate when a semi, driven by 27-year-old Dimitri Cojocar of Federal Way, Washington, hit him from behind.
Troopers reported Curran was traveling slowly while trying to find the exit. Curran and a passenger in the SUV were taken to Franciscan Health Rensselaer. Curran was pronounced dead at the hospital.
