CARROLL/CLINTON COUNTIES, Ind. (WLFI) — An overnight police pursuit through two counties ended with two crashes Friday morning. That includes the patrol car of a Flora Police officer.
Carroll County Sheriff Tobe Leazenby told News 18 it started around midnight on State Road 18, east of Flora. Leazenby said Flora Police Officer Josh Disinger clocked a vehicle traveling nearly 140 miles per hour.
The driver then led police on a chase through Flora, along State Road 75 to State Road 26 in Clinton County.
Leazenby said at some point Officer Disinger lost control of his squad car.
The vehicle hit a dip in the road, became airbone and slid into a field. It landed near Clinton County Road 800 North near State Road 39. That's just south of Rossville. Leazenby said Officer Disinger was not injured.
The pursuit continued until the driver of the initial car crashed at a set of train tracks on Jefferson Road near Mulberry.
Leazenby said neither of the two people in the vehicle were injured. The male driver was arrested and taken to jail. He says the female passenger was not arrested.
According to Leazenby, the driver eluded Indiana State Police in a pursuit last week.
