WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — This Saturday brought out dozens of women on a mission. They gathered at the Federated Church of West Lafayette.
The event was created to provide women an opportunity to encourage and empower one another. Those in attendance ate lunch and listened to local leaders share their stories of success.
Indiana native Polita Boyde was a keynote speaker. She shared her story from working for a retailer to becoming an entrepreneur.
This event is something she calls essential for women.
"Everybody can use some encouragement, me personally just as a woman, I see a lot, I know I see a lot we tear each other down more often than we build each other up and so I'm very excited to just be here to be a part of this," said Boyde.
This is the first event and it was open to the public. Leaders plan to make this an annual gathering moving forward.
