Another wave of freezing rain & some snow is passing through the area north of I-74.
Dominant precipitation form will be freezing rain & sleet tonight.
Periods of it will pass through all night to early Thursday morning. In the far northwest, snow will dominate tonight.
Ice will begin to change over to largely snow by mid-morning Thursday.
Winds will be gusty from the northeast. Some gusts of +30 mph are possible at times.
Periods of snow are likely Thursday. It will be episodic like the precipitation tonight.
Winds will be brisk from the northeast, then north.
From here on out, an additional near 1" to as much as 3" are possible by tomorrow night.
We have already seen up to 2.5" fall in our northwest & 2.4" at Kentland.
1-1.5" has been reported from White to Fulton counties.
I have measured 0.9" of snow, sleet & freezing rain at the station.
In the southeastern areas it has been all sleet & freezing rain with up to 0.1" so far.
Any 6-9" amounts look to stay northwest of our area.
Total snow/ice fall of 3-6" is likely in the northwest half with 1-3" in the southeast half.
Some isolated to spotty snow showers are possible Friday, otherwise, it will be Saturday with better snow potential returns.
This after snow decreases with time later Thursday to Thursday night.
Highs in the 20s to 30s will dominate.
Lows in the teens to 20s will occur.
If we can completely clear the skies for any length of time Friday night, temperatures could absolutely tank as winds go calm. With an inversion, complete saturation is noted in the lowest 2000'.
So, if we can clear & tank, freezing fog may also develop.
Much of this depends on timing of Saturday clipper with its clouds, stronger winds & mixing.
1" or less of snowfall accumulation is possible with clipper Saturday.
