Current snow depth is 3" to 12.5" over the area (highest depth in far north along the Kankakee River). Much of the area's depth is 4-8".
After 0.9" yesterday, our WLFI ob site total depth is 5" as of 7 p.m.
Scattered snow is possible after midnight tonight to early Friday.
Spotty to scattered snow/flurries are possible from lake effect Friday with clouds/peeks of sun in parts of the area.
Lows tonight will run teens to around 20 with highs near 20 to the mid 20s Friday.
0.5" of snow or less is possible tonight-tomorrow.
Winds will be rather brisk from the northeast to north at 12-23 mph.
Single-digit wind chills tonight will give way to around 10 to teens wind chills tomorrow.
Snow will increase & expand over the area tomorrow night (generally after 12 a.m.) & last with varying intensity through Saturday, then tend to taper Saturday evening.
With north-northwest to north & northeast wind at 13-25 mph, watch for some minor blowing & drifting. Roads will slicken Friday night through Saturday night.
Highs will be near 20 to the mid 20s over the area.
1-3" is expected along & northwest of a Williamsport to Lafayette to Burlington to Galveston to Peru line.
Isolated +3" amounts are possible in far northern Newton & Jasper counties near the Kankakee River.
1" or less is expected southeast of that line.
This is snow that would fall Friday night-Saturday evening.
Some lake effect snow showers are likely Sunday with brisk north wind 15-25 mph & highs 8-15 occurring pre-dawn Sunday.
Temperatures should fall to 4-10 by afternoon with wind chills -20 to -10.
With lows 0-4 Sunday night, wind chills may drop to -22 to -12.
Watching for potential of accumulating with gusty winds from the northeast & north Monday & Tuesday.
Amounts are unclear, but a couple to a few inches cannot be ruled out.
Accumulating snowfall & gusty winds are possible with blowing & drifting area possible around Thursday.
