WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Motorists can expect traffic disruptions early Saturday morning.

Around 2,500 runners will take their marks for the Purdue Half Marathon and 5K.

The course travels through Purdue's campus, West Lafayette and Lafayette.

It begins at 8 in the morning and runs until around noon.

Start and finish for the races is at the North Stadium lot

The Purdue Police Department says the disruptions will be short.

"An officer may have to stop somebody for a few minutes to let runners go by, but we will let traffic go through when its safe to do so," said Sgt. Nick Crosby.

The half marathon begins at the intersection of Cherry Lane and John Wooden Drive.

Traffic restrictions will be north of State St. to east of McCormick Road and south of Stadium and Northwestern Ave.

There will be various disruptions on Cherry Lane along with McCutcheon Drive, John Wooden Drive and Steven Beering Drive.

Roads will reopen as soon as the last runner clears them.
