Officials release names of fatal car, motorcycle crash

A crash involving a car and a motorcycle has left one dead on one in serious condition.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — A crash involving a car and a motorcycle has left one dead, and one in serious condition Saturday afternoon.

According to The Tippecanoe County Sheriffs Department, at 5:30 p.m. officials responded to the intersection of U.S. 52 West and Paramount Drive for a crash involving a car and motorcycle.

It was determined that a car, driven by 21-year-old Caleb Swift, was turning left on U.S. 52 West towards the entrance to Avenue South Apartments. The motorcycle was traveling East on U.S. 52 West.

The officials said Swift failed to yield the right of way to the motorcycle which struck the vehicle, ejecting both passengers. The driver of the motorcycle, 60-year-old John Crowell, suffered fatal injuries. The passenger, 52-year-old Shari Crowell, was airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis with serious injuries.

The driver of the car was uninjured.
