TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) -- The Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office welcomed a new school resource officer for the Tippecanoe School Corporation.

Sheriff's Deputy Beth Kidwell has served the community as a patrol officer for 10 years. She has also taught R.A.D Kid's classes during her tenure.

Kidwell said becoming a resource officer has been the ultimate goal for her since she joined the force. She's excited to play a positive role in children and parents' lives.

“It's really important that the kids get to interact with us on a daily basis in a positive manner.” Kidwell said. “That when there is a bad day, because it's inevitable, everybody has bad days, they know that they can trust us and are comfortable with coming to us.”

The addition was made possible by a grant from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.

Deputy Kidwell will work with the other two TSC Resource Officers, covering all 19 TSC schools.
