MONTICELLO, Ind. (WLFI) — Deputies have made an arrest in a White County hit-and-run that injured a Delphi woman. The White County Sheriff's Office took 39-year-old Shane Hayden of Monticello into custody Wednesday. He faces a preliminary charge of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury.
The White County Sheriff's Office said on Wednesday afternoon, they got an anonymous tip from someone who knew of a vehicle matching the description that we reported Tuesday night. When a deputy went to check it out, they found it was a 2012 GMC Terrain with damage to the front driver's side.
As we reported, around 11 p.m. on Nov. 17, a deputy was driving near the intersection of West Shafer Drive and White Point Drive to another call when he found the woman in the roadway. The woman, 21-year-old Shawnrenee Hunt of Delphi, said a vehicle had hit her while she was walking across the street. Witnesses said Hunt parked her vehicle across from a saloon and was walking inside when the crash happened.
Hunt was taken to IU Health White Memorial Hospital and later taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
