CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Democratic candidates vying for the Congressional House District 4 seat took the stage to debate Monday night. Some issues they discussed included healthcare, the environment and education.

Monday night wasn't just about learning more about the five candidates, it was also about getting millennials involved. That's why it was held at Clinton Prairie High School.

Senior Jacob Hamilton helped put together the debate. He said it was all about keeping the younger generation in the know.

"Whether they're Democratic or whether they're Republican, it didn't matter to me. I was just hoping to change some minds," said Hamilton. "I thought it was a really good idea to get millennials to get out and get involved in something like this."

Hamilton and many others had the chance to learn more about the candidates.

Candidate Tobi Beck is an Army veteran, foster mother and security and tech professional.

Candidate Joseph Mackey is from Lafayette and is retired from Caterpillar. He runs a children's cancer foundation.

Candidate Roger Day is also retired. He used to be the regional vice president at Nationalcare Marketing.

Candidate Darin Griesy has been a lobbyist, executive director and business owner.

Candidate Veronikka Ziol is a woodworker who cares passionately about the environment.

Republican Congressman Todd Rokita has filed to run for Senator Joe Donnelly's seat.

The primary election is on May 8.
