TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — Police are looking for a delivery driver they say careened through a southern Tippecanoe County neighborhood, crashing into several mailboxes and street signs, while his girlfriend and two children were in the car.
The crashes happened about 5:30 p.m. Friday on Chilton Drive and Speedwell Lane in Benjamin Crossing neighborhood near the south side of Lafayette.
Lt. Brian Lowe says the 31-year-old driver was arguing with his 27-year-old girlfriend while delivering food for GrubHub in a 2012 Ford Edge.
Lowe says he became enraged and crashed into at least two street signs and six mailboxes.
Lowe says he also crashed at a nearby Walmart, where he left the woman and his 1- and 7-year-old children before driving away.
The woman sustained minor injuries during the incident.
Police know who the suspect is but have not identified or arrested him. He is wanted on preliminary charges of reckless driving, neglect of a dependent and hit-and-run.
